This week's http://www.dutchdare-cardchallenges.blogspot.com/ says "Just Cardstock". Now there are some stamped, coloured images in their DT cards, but I tried hard to make my card with just cardstock.
First I tried a new (to me) technique. I dabbed alcohol inks onto a felt pad and applied the all over apiece of metallic gold card. I've an idea I should have used blending liquid too but it still looks ok. I used an embossing folder I bought at Ally Pally and rubbed some red chalk ink over the tree to bring it out a bit. You can barely see the background paper, it came from a Graphicus Guild pack and is just the right red.
Can't decide: should it have a greeting on the outside or should I leave it alone and just put one inside?
This is gorgeous, love the effect you created with the alcohol inks. I love multi-coloured lights on Chrismas Trees, and this looks just like the shimmery haze you see round a tree when you turn out the main lights in you room.
ReplyDeleteYou don't need the blending solution by the way, you can use the inks either with or without, but it's nice to have a bottle as you can get a wider variety of effects if you have it.
What a stunning card! Leave the outside sentiment free - it doesn't need it. This is a great technique for creating backgrounds.
ReplyDeleteThis is so fabulous! Wow! Nothing more on the outside it is pefect as is. Also you can use rubbing alcohol instead of blending solution in a pinch however this turned out to die for!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful card! I really love it, now I have to go out and order that stamp. I was so sure I got all the stamps from SU I wanted. But now seeing how great you made that look, I have to have one for myself! Great job, Leslie
ReplyDeleteFab card
ReplyDelete.. and I sometimes use surgical spirit instead of blending solution - much cheaper and you can get at any pharmacy/supermarket!
