Can I join in too please?

There is such a pretty sketch this week on Totally Papercraft's challenge, I had to use it with Phindy O'Neill's exquisite digi art, this image is called The Big Girl's Class. I'll admit, ballet and pink were never my thing as a child and nor are they now. But this image is so clever on so many levels and I couldn't resist it, it is beautiful, comic and moving all together, don't know how it is, but it is :).

C.R.A.F.T. Challenge's
theme for this week is ribbon and sparkle and Cute Card Thursday has Ribbontastic so I'm entering my card for both these challenges too.

Phindy O'Neill image is coloured with Copics and some sparkle addded with Stickles to the little girsl's tutu. Image is cut and matted with Nesties, the border underneath is made with a Martha Stewart punch. DP is by Artylicious, pink sparkly ribbon was a present from my very creative blogging friend Viv, who I hope to meet in the flesh at the NEC next month. Flowers from my stash have punched centres and Stickles added.

Prima has a secret - and candy

We all love Prima embellies - here is a heads-up that they have an exciting new launch coming soon! To celebrate it there is candy on offer - check out their blog here for details of the candy and of the big secret, you need to enter by Sunday evening.

MMSC#42

I've had a busy week with little chance to craft. This afternoon I made a quick Christmas card using the sketch from the Midnight Madness Challenge Blog. Raise the Bar also challenges us to use things in threes - the 3 pieces of card candy and 3 DPs set at an angle fit this one I think. I've used a Whiff of Joy stamp and My Minds Eye DPs. The card candy, sentiment and the middle DP are all from Craftwork Cards. Having watched Tim Holtz on craft tv earlier this week I tried using Distress Stickles on my reindeer and heating them. It looks better in real life than in my photo, but still not anything like when TH did the demo :).

Edited to add: I also made this for E is for Elf at the ABC Christmas challnege but thought I couldn't enter it as I forgot the red and green part of the challenge. Samantha from their DT pointed out this is optional so I'm entering this card too, which is almost, sort of red and green :). Thanks for the heads-up Samantha and it has a good side, I now have 2 more cards ready for Christmas, not one:)

Twisted Thursday Challenge #45 - Hot Pink

Shirleys2Girls are continuing to party - this week your challenge is simply to use the colour hot pink somewhere in your project. However the Design Team is really in party mode - we've made crowns from an S2G template - and we have some very special models showing them off :). If you'd like the template to make a crown, check out the challenge blog for your free template. Be sure to have a look at everone's pictures, they are very entertaining this week LOL! Here's my first model, Sweep.

You are not required to use Shirley’s 2 Girls images for the challenge, but if you've got them, we'd love to see you use them:).
Upload your card to your favorite online gallery and/or your blog. If you upload to SCS or PCP, please use the keywords S2GSC45 AND shirleys2girls. Post a direct link to your card using Mr. Linky on the Challenge Blog, here. The deadline for uploading your card is Wednesday, 3 March 2010 at midnight PDT. Not one, but TWO winning cards will be chosen by Random.org, the lucky winners will get to choose an image from Shirley’s 2 Girls, they'll get a "Winner" blinkie to display on their blog and the winning cards or other project will be showcased on the Shirley's 2 Girls Challenge Blog.

Please do visit the other Ladies with Attitude, check out their amazing creations (and their four-legged friends) and leave them some love, here's the team: Ann, Anne (me), Carlie, Cat, Deanne, Debbie, Georgia, Gina, Jana, Jane,Jeannie, Jennifer, Judy and Lisa.

This is my male model, Red:). The crown is orange card sprayed with pink Glimmer Mist. Stickles, brads, flowers and S2G images along with ribbon have blinged it up. But of course you don't have to make a crown, just a card or other project using hot pink!

Dream Pink

Didn't think I was going to have anything finished to blog today, but here's a card using Phindy O'Neill's Flower Top Fairy Rose, isn't she pretty? I've made her for another new challenge blog, called I Love Digi - their first challenge is Think Pink. Good luck to them with their new challenge blog :). I've used quite a few spots, both the pink and the green DPs have spots on, as does the swiss dot ribbon, so I'm entering the challenge at Totally Papercrafts (lots of dots). My card is based on a very pretty sketch from Sunday Sketch and Stamp. This week's Corrosive Challenge is things with wings and Fussy and Fancy say Dazzle Us! There's quite a bit of bling going on with various colours of Stickles.

Image is coloured with Copics and lots of Stickles, cut out with a Nestie with her wings outside the edge of the Nestie. Sentiment is Inkadinkado, flower border punch is hydrangea by Martha Stewart. I've added Stickles to the centres of the flowers. The green DP is Stampin Up, the pink is Daisy Bucket I think.

Domino meets Lili of the Valley

Here's another card made with the adorable Domino the dog image from Shirleys2Girls, he comes with sentiments and a holiday wreath, you can buy him here. I've used the sketch on the Lili of the Valley Challenge blog for my inspiration. The DP colours are very springlike and flowery so I'm entering this for a few Spring challenges: Stamp Something's Challenge theme Touch of Spring, and Your Next Stamp's Spring Colours.

Domino is coloured with Copics, his gift bag is paper pieced and made 3D with silicon glue. I've used a touch of Stickles on the bag eyelets and the centres of the flowers. The papers are My Minds Eye, a magazine freebie, I punched the flowers from the papers too. Ribbon and brad are from stash, the scalloped card is by Craftwork Cards.

Looking forward to summer...

This simple card is based on this week's Friday Sketcher's Challenge, it's the first card I've finished with images from Friday when my crafting friend visited. The image is by Stampin' Up, inked with Memento ink in London Fog, coloured with Copics. I LOVE this stamp set, seems to be not on sale at the moment...

I've made it a Get Well card to send and I'm entering it for Creative Card Crew where that's the theme for the week, it's also Pile It On's theme for this week. . Paper Sundaes' theme is Distressing and Saturday Spotlight has "do the mess around" which also calls for inking, distressing or tearing.

The image and mat are cut with a deckle edged Nestie, the blue cardstock is dry embossed with a Cuttlebug folder and its edges distressed with scissors and then ink. The summery DP is My Minds Eye, flowers are Prima and sentiment from Cornish Heritage Farms.

Shirleys2Girls Birthday Bash Blog Hop Winners!

The lucky winner of the blog hop and the individual prize winners are posted on Shirleys2Girls blog - check them out here. The winner of the Happy Birthday Banner from my blog, chosen by Random.org, was Danni of Danni's Dreams. Congratulations Danni!

Decorating the Tree

This card is to add to the small but growing stack for next Christmas, the theme on the ABC Christmas Challenge is D for decorations, a perfect reason to ink up one of my Whiff of Joy Christmas stamps of a boy decorating the tree. ABC Christmas also wanted a ribbon on the card; mine has a metal Christmas tree charm on it, from Quixotic Paperie, which fits the theme at Cute Card Thursday of Metal Mania. Papertake Weekly's Challenge is Check This Out to use checks in your project. I've used some Basic Grey Eskimo Kisses paper that is checked; it's the only DP I've used so I'm entering it for the other ABC Challenge which is O is for One Paper.

Whiff of Joy Elizabeth Bell stamp is coloured with Copics and Stickles; sentiment is Paper Artsy, stamped in grey and with Stickles added.

You light up my life - Simon Says Challenge

I've had such a fun day, stamping almost all day and only breaking off for a spot of craft shopping, but the only card I have to show you is one I finished up first thing this morning. I've enjoyed a day long visit from a crafting friend. We've "talked" online and met just once before so you might say that isn't a friend, but when you have that good a time crafting together the only word that fits is friend:). Can't wait to do it again sometime. I've lots of ideas and images for new cards, but in the meantime here's something finished I can blog.

This week's Simon Says Challenge calls for a recipe of three different types of embellishment, two DPs, one image. If you have them, the Simon Says Team is also asking that you use Stampabilities images. I do have a few and I hope to have a second entry and do that. But in the meantime, I wanted to use my chandelier stamp that I bought last November at the NEC and which has been waiting for its turn in the spotlight. I bought a Prima set of two chandeliers, two corner pieces and some diamond bling for £1.99 - can't beat that for value!

I cut out my piece of card with Nesties Labels 4 and then I used Distress Inks to colour the background (scattered straw, tattered rose and dusty concord). The chandelier was stamped onto it and and Personal Impressions swirls added around the edge. Ack, just realised, I hope the swirls don't count as a second image... The two DPs are Basic Grey Wisteria, the edge of the mustard coloured DP is punched with a Martha Stewart hydrangea punch. My three embellishments are the ribbon, the flowers (white, coloured with the Distress Inks) and the gems that are attached to the chandelier and the centres of the flowers.

Twisted Thursday Challenge #44 - Shake it up!

Shirleys2Girls are continuing to party - and this week they are celebrating their first birthday by shaking it up - yes the challenge is to make a shaker card - with the additional twist of using confetti. You are not required to use Shirley’s 2 Girls images, but if you've got them, we'd love to see you use them:). Upload your card to your favorite online gallery and/or your blog. If you upload to SCS or PCP, please use the keywords S2GSC44 AND shirleys2girls. Post a direct link to your card using Mr. Linky on the Challenge Blog, here. The deadline for uploading your card is Wednesday, 24 February 2010 at midnight PDT.
Thw winners from the birthday blog hop will be announced tomorrow, be sure to check back and see if you are a winner.

Please do visit the other Ladies with Attitude, check out their amazing creations and leave them some love, here's the team: Ann, Anne (me), Carlie, Cat, Deanne, Debbie, Georgia, Gina, Jana, Jane,Jeannie, Jennifer, Judy and Lisa.

My card uses beads instead on confetti inside the shaker, I just couldn't get any cofetti. I used Shirleys2Girls birthday digi paper with those lovely balloons, and the digi image is one of the cute Party Favours, available here.

This is my first attempt at a shaker card, I found it very challenging and I'm looking forward to seeing all the lovely work from the rest of the DT and from the fabulous entries to the challenge.

Shirleys2Girls Birthday Bash Blog Hop

Welcome to the Shirleys2Girls Birthday Bash Blog Hop :). If you've arrived here from Jana's blog then you're in the right place, otherwise you might like to head back to the start at the Shirleys2Girls Challenge blog, where you can also find a complete list of the hop, in case you get lost along the way.

So... Shirleys2Girls are celebrating their first birthday with much silliness, blowing of horns, throwing confetti, eating of cake, giving away of goodies and singing! Believe me, you want to be part of it! And even better, they've updated their website to a new all-singing, all dancing website just in time for the Birthday Bash, so once you've finished the hop then be sure to head on over to check it out. http://shirleys2girls.com/ - there are lots of sweet new digital stamps, all with a birthday theme.
There's a bunch of goodies on offer in the hop: stamps, birthday digis, ribbons, embellies and more! There's a prize on each blog along the hop to be won as well as a grand prize for the first to collect all the mystery words from the blogs.

All the DT's blogs have a mystery word hiding in their Blog Hop Postings; the words will describe everything that you might need to make a delicious birthday cake!! My card shows a scrumptious cake being looked at longingly by a girl, her cat and her dog. Appropriately the digi is called scrumptious and as my favourite cake is chocolate cake (IS there any other kind of favourite cake? LOL) then of course I would need to keep in a good stock of
cocoa. I've coloured with Copics and lots of festive Stickles, the DPs are from Shirleys2Girls Birthday papers range and I've cut out balloons from the DP and stitched on their strings.

Oh, don't forget to play along with us this week for the Twisted Thursday Challenge. There's no sketch this week, but the twist is that when you link to the card you've made you need to tell us your favourite thing about birthdays. The Girls will select 2 winners using random.org and they will each get their choice of a digital stamp from the store. So what are you waiting for? On with the hop and don't forget to enter Twisted Thursday.

Please leave a comment telling me what you like best about Birthday parties to be eligible for my drawing. Did you find my ingredient? Don't leave it in the comments here or I'll have to delete the comment :). Write it down, collect the rest of all 14 things or ingredients, and post them on the S2G Challenge page and you might just be the lucky grand winner when the hop is over...
Your next stop along the hop is with the cardmaking supremo Judy.

Spring is on the way - I hope!

This clean and simple card uses Phindy O'Neill's digi image Birds Go By, which is an autumnal scene. I've changed it around by adding some spring buds and foliage to the tree, it's coloured with watercolour pencils. The DP is an Artylicous CD paper, the sentiment is Craftwork Cards and ribbon from stash.

I'm entering my card in the Spring is in the Air Challenge at A Spoonful of Sugar, Cupcake Craft's Keep It Simple theme and the Creative Belli Challenge to use ribbon.

I Don't Repeat Gossip...

And of course the punchline inside is "So listen carefully"!

This amazing digi is called Mrs Comfy and Rose have coffee and it's from the talented Phindy O'Neill. Why is she called Rose? Phindy's Papercraftplanet group is having a week of partying and celebrations to mark 500 group followers and one of the competitions was to name Mrs Comfy's friend. Christine named her after Rose, her sister, so Rose it is.

I've cut out the tablecloth and 2 of the shopping bags and used silicon glue to make them 3D, the images is coloured with Copics. The papers are DCWV butterfly and I've added lots of machine stitching to my card, which makes it eligible for the Corrosive Challenge this week of Sew It Up. I'm also entering it for Crafty Creations Challenge, where the theme is Friends and for the C.R.A.F.T. Challenge of digi colouring.

You're invited... to a cardathon at Phindys Place... you could win $25 to spend at Michael's

Tonight, at 8pm (12:PST) I'm really excited to be holding a Cardathon for Phindy O'Neill who is celebrating over 500 followers on Papercraftplanet. You need some basic supplies to play along, the photo shows the image I've used, with some DPs to go with it:
  • a 5 x 7 card blank
  • Your Phindy image, printed out no bigger than around 3 3/4" square (that's about 9.5 cm). Feel free to colour your image ahead of time, when you have chosen your DPs and embellishments from your stash and you know what colourway you want to work with.
  • Scraps of 2 plain and 2 patterned cardstock. Nothing will be cut larger than 5 x 7". If you are like me and you like to mat the layers of your card as you go, you might need a bit more plain cardstock to mat your layers with.
  • Some ribbon - enough to go around your card and tie a bow.
  • 3 brads or gems.
  • Sentiment for your card - you don't need a sentiment on your card, sometimes it's useful to leave it off and put the right one on when you are ready to use the card - but if you want to use one, have it printed or stamped ready so that you can put it on your finished masterpiece :o)

Hopefully you should have all these ingredients in your craft stash, if not feel free to improvise. If you don't have a Phindy image yet, then why not?! Time to get shopping or check out Phindy's generous freebies. Please do join us in a couple of hours if you can, over at Papercraftplanet

Get Your Kicks

This week's Challenge at Charisma Cardz is "Think Male" and I don't know about you, but I never have enough "men" cards in my card stash. This image is absolutely perfect, it was sent to me by my awesome and talented blogging friend Debby. The stamp comes from Artistic Outpost and is called Route 66. It's black embossed and I've used Peeled Paint and Weathered Wood Distress Inks painted on it. The khaki green paisley DP is from Artylicious and I've Cuttlebugged a piece of the metallic dark green paper that I've matted the image onto. Secret Crafter's theme this week for their challenge is monochrome tones of one colour and white and I'm also entering my card into this. The metallic paper around the bike image is rough cut with scissors. Great effect. Umm actually it's because I put the brads in first and couldn't line it up to cut straight :). And that's it. I want to go back to it and add some more embellishments, but then it wouldn't be a man card...

Cheers! to Card Patterns Challenge

Here's a quick posting before I head off into more slippery snow to pick up elder son from Oxford railway station, he's had a very long day visiting Aberystwyth Uni.

I've used my fab image "Friends" from Shirleys2Girls again, you can buy it here. I'm really in love with this image, it's got so much potential, I can't keep up with my ideas :). This time I've used it with a great circular sketch from the Card Patterns Challenge.
I've coloured it in with Copics, added some blue Bazzill card and some DP. The red is an Artylicious download, can't find a name onthe orangey one, sorry. Another perfect bow from my new Bowmaker completes the card, along with some Card Candy from Craftwork Cards.

Cheers, hope you like my card :)

Two parties coming up! Shirley2Girls and Phindys Place both say PAARTY!!

I have two crafting parties to invite you to :).

Shirleys2Girls celebrate their first birthday tomorrow with a fun blog hop with lots of prizes to win along the way. I'm a stop on the hop, please be sure to drop in tomorrow and join the fun.

Also, Phindy O'Neill is having a huge celebration over on Papercraftplanet to celebrate over 500 followers to her group. The group started in November and it's built up to over 500 followers in no time! Check out all the activites and prizes Phindy has got coming up and be sure to join in. I'm honoured to be running a Cardathon for Phindy on Saturday and I hope you'll play along too.

On a Carousel

I've made another carousel card using Wings of Hope digi image, which is on sale to raise funds for Red Cross in Haiti, such a lovely image and a good cause purchase too. If you've not already bought your stamp you can get it from Whimsy Stamps here.

I made this card to enter the Copic Colour Challenge, which uses E18 Copper, E42 Sand White and E77 Maroon, which sounded perfect for the horse. Then I realsied that, despite my ever-growing collection, I don't own any of these colours! Oh well, I used E51 Milk White, E33 Sand and E57 Light Walnut, hope that's ok :). I used masses of Stickles in Cinnamon and Gold for the wings and a couple of contrast greens and yellows on the image. The DP is Basic Grey from Nook & Pantry, the copper embossed sentiment is Elusive Images. Ribbon is from stash and card candy from Craftwork Cards.

I'm also entering Papertake Weekly's Challenge, Dawn's sketch was ideal for this image, and Digital Tuesday's It's All About the Animals theme.

Aged to Perfection

One of my favourite images from the recent Indulgence release by Shirleys2Girls is the image Friends - could there be any better indulgence than the good company of friends - with the added bonus of a glass of wine. I've made several cards using the image, which can be bought here, this one uses Ria's pretty sketch from Sketch Saturday. I'm also entering it into Stamp Something's theme of Love Something, we all need and love our friends :).

The image is coloured with Copics and also paper pieced. The pen highlighting the border is a gold metallic which looks better IRL. The papers are free My Mind's Eye papers that came with a magazine, the big chrysanthemum is part of the pack. The sentiment is from Craftwork Cards and I tied the ribbon with a Bowmaker which I bought from Quixotic Paperie. I'm not the best in the world at tying bows, yes I was one of the last to learn in my class at school :). I watched the online videos of the bowmaker and was not convinced by them. But I gave it a go and I'm delighted with it. It truly makes tying perfect, even bows so simple. Right from the very first practice bow they have worked every time - I love it!

You Make Life Sweet

This very cute digi image is from Phindy O'Neill; it is a freebie to her group on Papercraftplanet. As Phindy is sponsoring Cute Card Thursday's spots and dots challenge it seemed right to use one of her images :). I've follwed the sketch from Paper Sundae's Challenge, keeping the sweet theme going. The Pixie Dust Challenge is to use a decorative border, so I'm entering this new-to-me challenge as well.

I coloured my image with Copics, cut it out and framed it using Nesties and used a Hero Arts sentiment. The dotty DPs are free My Minds Eye ones that came with a magazine, I also used gold mirri card as a layer. I cut the card front down and added a thin strip of mirri card here as well, to highlight the decorative border punching, is done with a Martha Stewart doily lace punch. The ribbon is from stash.

PS Simon Says is trying to break their record and get over 400 entries for their Love theme, so I'm also entering this card into their challenge.

Domino the dog does a dozen challenges!

Meet Domino, he's an Airedale terrier (I think) from Shirleys2Girls, he's a Christmas digi with a wreath and sentiment included, but I've used him along here for a "With Love" card. I was so pleased to get this digi, he's lovely and useful for lots of occasions, with the gift bag in his mouth. This card has the alternative title "A Dog Is Not Just For Christmas", in view of the Christmas digi :). I think I've broken my own record here, with a DOZEN challenges from one card! OK with all the "Love" themes around this week it wasn't as tricky as it sounds!

I don't really *do* Valentines cards, so a With Love is as close as it gets :). I've based my card on the sketch from Mojo Monday's Challenge and am also entering it for a few other challenges, including Papertake Weekly's Love Actually Challenge - great name for the theme! Cupcake Crafts has the theme Four Legged and Friendly and this is another entry for this theme, which is certainly a popular one with me. Stampin' for the Weekend's challenge is "love is in the air"and the ABC Challenge is N for New (the digi is new). I hope Dareu2Digistamp will accept this as a Valentine's card for their challenge, Charisma Cardz has I Love You as its theme, Stamp Something has Love Somethings, Double Dutch and Creative Card Crew both have Valentines for their theme, the Belli Challenge is to use ribbons and Pile It On's theme is "To the one you love".

Domino is simply coloured with a couple of shades of Copics, his present is paper pieced from Artylicious paper which is also used behind the Prima flower in layers. The sentiment is Elusive Images and the ribbon came from a box of chocolates. He's cut out with a deckle edged Nestie and the DP is also Artylicious. Isn't he gorgeous and adorable?

Thinking of You

This card is made with an image that my very kind and uber-talented blogging friend Debby sent me. It is almost a cheat a it's black embossed on Kraft and I have done nothing at all to the image, it needs no more adding to it.

I've followed the Saturday Sketcher's sketch and made a sypmathy card for a friend whose father died this week; he was a Master Saddler, hence the image. I'm also entering it for the Basic Grey Challenge to use their products with an animal image. All the DP is from the Infuse collection. Cupcake Craft Challenge is also four-legged and furry.

Sentiment is Papermania, flower is Prima. It's not a standard bereavement card but it works for the particular occasion, hope you like it too.

Big & Bold

This card is, hopefully, to remind me that spring and summer are just around the corner. Yesterday there was snow on the ground again but thankfully it has gone again and the weather is milder. I noticed a Bigger is Better theme at Saturday Spotlight which gave me the idea for this card, which uses all 6 Nesties to make one giant flower. This started out life as a small rectangular card but then the pretty DP was swallowed up by the flower, so I added another panel of it and used a larger card. The only stamping on this is the Penny Black sentiment, so an unusual card for me, I normally love to stamp lots of images on my cards. I also added lots of Prima flowers and Papermania brads. Sorry, no idea who made the DP, it's one of the first packs I ever bought...

I'm also entering this card in Dutch Dare's Summer in Winter Challenge, Cute Card Thursday's Blooming Gorgeous theme, Spoonful of Sugar's open theme and Pile It On's Enough of Winter Colours.

Wings of Hope

Whimsy Stamps have recently launched a stunning set of stamps of carousel horses that I coveted. However, even better, they have produced a one-off digital carousel horse that is available almost instantly and, of course, costs less. All of this sounds like a good reason to buy the stamp, but the most important one of all is that the stamp is a fundraiser with all proceeds going to the Red Cross Haiti Relief. You can buy the image here.

I've followed Jeanette's sketch from this week's Friday Sketcher's Challenge, which is a great one for a large image like this. I'm entering this week's Cupcake Craft Challenge, which is four-legged and furry and also Basic Grey's Animals Challenge.

My carousel horse is coloured with Copics as well as lots of Diamond and Gold Stickles, the edges of the image are sponged with Dusty Concord Distress Ink. The gorgeous background papers are Basic Grey Wisteria, a pad I got for my birthday and haven't broken into until today. I used the first Martha Stewart punch I ever bought on the border, which is called Flourish and the gold embossed sentiment is from Elusive Images.
