Hooray for Friday - the end of the week and time for another Phindy's Place Friday Challenge! This week we have a theme picked by Rhonda Miller, our first ever Guest Designer - welcome Rhonda! The theme is April Showers Bring Forth May Flowers which is a fun and easy challenge that you can interpret any way you want.
I chose to use a slightly different digi set from a series that Phindy has drawn, called Lil Gems, they are smaller digis that are not designed to be enlarged to fill a whole card front. The Garden Gems were just so much fun to use that I couldn't stop at one card! I love the idea of cards made with "Inchie" stamps and wanted to do something like this, however I chose to make my images measure 1 1/2" which is of course the beauty of using digis, make 'em the size that works for you.
The first card I made is quite clean and simple, it's a kind of April Showers card. Images coloured with Copics, mounted onto green Bazzill Bling and then again onto dark green Bazzill Bling. The sentiment is computer generated, the papers are Basic Grey Kioshi.
The second card, which also uses Kioshi DP, is a sunnier card, showing the May flowers. I have read that to make pastel colouring really stand out, mat it onto black, which is what I did. It's very high contrast against the yellow card, but I like it! But I have a confession to make: this was going to be a perfectly laid out nine-patch. Somehow, late last evening, a tiny bit of inaccuracy crept into my cutting and the hairsbreadth of difference in size stood out like a sore thumb. What to do? OK a quick rearrange and I set the centre square on point which hopefully camouflages the difference:)
Dareu2DigiStamp has an Anything Goes challenge this week, so I'm entering my cards for it. Absoloutely LOVE these little images and can feel a "series" of cards coming on :)
Enjoy Friday and remember, it's nearly the weekend!
Anne these are wonderful. The first card with that sentiment and images is just so perfect and the second with that gorgeous paper!! Great job.
ReplyDeleteAnne, your cards are both wonderful! I love that you used those little garden images instead of one 'big' focal image - great idea and absolutely adorable!

ReplyDeleteWow!! These are just brilliant. Love both of them for different reasons: the first one would be brilliant for a lady gardener - who hates housework, as many of us do, and the second - well I reckon anybody would love to receive it.

ReplyDeleteAnne, How clever and talented are you. I just adore both these cards, the simple, clean layout on the 1st card with the brilliant sentiment, and the use of those lovely papers really do pop out when backed on black- something I would never have thought of trying before.
ReplyDeleteI don't think I have even noticed these lil' gems images when going through Phindy's store, but I truly love what you have created with them.
Hugs,
Trish
