Guest DT - Cute Card Thursday - Happy New Year

This is the second and final week of my Guest DT spot for Cute Card Thursday, it has been great fun being part of Caz's talented bunch of crafters, thank you :). This week's Challenge is Happy New Year. I'm also entering my card for the Simon Says Challenge of Simon Says - Party! Lili of the Valley Challenge with the theme Happy New Year and Cupcake Craft Challenge us to make a celebration card.

The stamp I've used is by Rubber Romance, it's one of the first stamps I ever bought and she's ideal for lots of celebration and party cards. Martini Girl is coloured with Copics and seriously blinged up with gems, Stickles, silver ribbon and Glossy Accents for her cocktail. Cut out with Nestie Labels 4, she's matted onto a piece of brayered cardstock and layered onto K&K paper.

I have today off from work and go back on Tuesday so that's 5 days off -hoorah! I hope to get some crafting time after Christmas Day but in the meantime I am so behind on everything, the 18th birthday party at the weekend rather took over from Christmas and now I have to catch up :) - the bad weather hasn't helped things either. I would like to wish you all a Merry Christmas and a Happy, Healthy New Year.

Friday Sketchers 34 - Sparkle

This card is made to show off the gorgeous Prima flowers that I bought a while back in the Stamp Attic. I got them home and realised that I couldn't find anything in the bright, clear acid colours to use them with. Having seen that Friday Sketchers used a 3-flower sketch this week I was determined to use them. http://fridaysketchersblog.blogspot.com/2009/01/friday-sketchers-34-sponsored-by-scrapp.html

I eventually found the two-sided paper in my stash, which came from Auscraft when it went out of business last year, in colours that I thought worked ok with the flowers.

I decided to use a Rubber Romance stamp and had a try at colouring her with my new Copic pens that I won on the Magnolia/Stampavie Challenge. As you can see I need to work on my blending! She's also rather more tanned than I intended... :) Cotton ties are hand-dyed German thread that I bought years ago to braid with.

Sketch Saturday Challenge - Your Choice

Sketch Saturday http://sketchsaturday.blogspot.com/ gave everyone the chance to choose a sketch from the last 30 weeks of sketches.  I picked Sketch 28, I like ovals, I think they look elegant, which I wanted for this card :).

Both the image and the sentiment are Rubber Romance stamps.  The girl with diamonds is stamped in smoke grey Versafine and coloured with chalks.  The sentiment is silver tinsel embossed.  Lower paper is Glimmer Misted, upper paper is from a Graphicus Guild paperpack.  The embellishments came from Hobbycraft, not somewhere I usually shop at.  I had to buy some DS tape as my local shop has been closed for over a week, and I found these pretty gems in their sale.
