Forsythia for Spring

It's nearly Spring when the forsythia is laden with its bright, cheerful, acid yellow flowers, which is just what I've used this stunning digi image from Tiffany Doodles for, it comes as a pair with Pussy Willow in a jar.  I based my card around Crafty Cardmaker's Challenge this week, which is a recipe of:  main colour yellow, ribbon, stitching, gemstones.  Some challenges at present aren't, how shall I put it, very challenging, so this made a refreshing change!
Image is coloured with Copics and Glossy Accents, punched leaves added.  Ribbon from Really Reasonable Ribbons, sentiment from Craftwork Cards, DP is Basic Grey and Bearly Mine, corners punched, lots of stitching and some gems.  Card is based on the sketch from Stamp with Fun
My card is for the following challenges:
Stamp with Fun - sketch
Crafty Cardmaker's Challenge - yellow, ribbon, gemstone, stitching
Amber's Crafts - my favourite things - Basic Grey, stitching, digis, Copics, ribbon!
Creative Card Crew - Spring
Crafts and Me - ribbon
Cooking it up with Katie - 1 image, 2 DP, 3 types embellishments
Timeless Tuesday - flowers everywhere
Incy Wincy - flower frenzy
Quirky Crafts - sparkly, punchy Spring

DT Posting - Cooking it up with Katie #37 - food/drink, sentiment and tag

Good Morning and welcome to Cooking it up With Katie!  This week's fun recipe is to include sentiment, tags and food/drink.  And oh GOOD GRIEF!  I just realised I forgot the tag - what an idiot!  Oops, the sentiment was meant to be on a tag...  Katie is currently having a DT Call, it's such a fun challenge to work with, why not give it a go?  Sadly this is my last card for the DT, life is very full at the moment and I am still trying to put Dad's affairs in order for my Mum.  It's been a fun team to be part of, thanks Katie!

My card uses a House Mouse decoupage from Joanna Sheen, some Cuttlebugging and a Dimension Fourth sentiment stamp.  I couldn't find any DP to match my image until I printed a page off from Essence of Nature, an Artylicious CD.  You can't see much of it but it's there I promise! Because of it, I'm making a second entry into CD Sunday Challenge.  I can't believe this doesn't get more entries, at the NEC last week I saw so many people buying CDRoms - come on gals and get entering!
My card is for the following challenges:

CD Sunday Challenge - the natural world
Totally Gorjuss - sketch
House Mouse & Friends - you gotta have friends
Anything Goes - emboss it
Crafty Cardmakers - dry embossing

Hmm.. now can I unstick that sentiment and turn it into a tag without trashing the card?...

PS I have candy, do please join in:)

Cooking it up With Katie #35 - a girly lilac bow

This week there's another fun recipe for you to follow at Cooking It Up With Katie:  your ingredients are lilac, girly and and a bow.  The DT had some fun images to use from Robyn's Fetish, the sponsor and I used the cute birdhouse image, colouring it with Copics and some Distress Ink.  The DP is My Mind's Eye and I Cuttlebugged and inked some grey cardstock.  The sentiment is Whiff of Joy.
I based my card on this week's Friday Sketcher's Challenge.

Cooking it up With Katie #33 - Emboss a sticky leaf

Welcome to Cooking it up With Katie!  This week the challenge recipe is to use:  embossing, leaves and a sticker.  I've used an adorable House Mouse taking time to smell the flowers - a freesia to be precise:).  Something I don't have in my stash s stickers, but I remembered that there was a set of stickers a few months back as a magazine freebie...   The little corner stickers are cream with spots; I coloured mine with my Copics so they fit the colours I've used.  Sentiment is from Craftwork Cards and DP is a Fred-She-Said digital you can buy it here.

DT Posting - Cooking it up with Katie #31 - sparkle, yellow and digi

This week at Cooking it up With Katie the recipe is:  use a digi, some yellow and some sparkle. We had fun digi images from Sassy Studio, this week's sponsor, to use for the challenge so that was the digi part sorted.  I paper pieced the armchair with Basic Grey DP in a bright yellow.  The other DP is a freebie from a magazine, they are meant to be masculine colours but I think they work great for this card!  The entiment is from Joanna Sheen, the flowers are Papermania and I used a Woodware punch to make the big flower that has Stickles on it.
The card is based on this week's Friday Sketchers Challenge.  I'd like to claim to be clever and tell you I set it at an angle.  But the truth is I didn't glue the blue DP to the yellow mat and I started to stitch the spotty bits down.  When it started to shift I realised what I had done...  Didn't have any more of the yellow cardstock so I "chose" the artistic interpretation :).  The yellow cardstock has been distressed at the edges.
I'm entering my card for:
Scrappy Frogs - Flower Power (make your own flowers)
Friday Sketchers Challenge
Stamp Scrap & Doodle - stitching real or faux
Crafty Catz - stitching
Paper Romance - make your own flowers

DT Posting - Cooking it up with Katie #27 - Furry friend, buttons and patchwork

Good Morning and welcome to a new Cooking it up With Katie Challenge!  This week's recipe for your project is:
Patchwork
Buttons
Furry Friend

and we are sponsored by Meljen's Designs.
My image is called Apple Beary and she's coloured with Copics and edged with Distress Inks. The border strip is patchworked, though you can't see it too well, I've stitched in a quilty design to try to emphasise it, and there is a pretty purple lace under the strip too, shows up much more in real life.

I've followed the Sketch & Stash Challenge  using new stash - my Nestie was bought with prize money from the Simon Says Challenge - woo hoo! - and neglected stash - Basic Grey Wisteria papers, which I fell in love with when I bought them and used them a little, then somehow they got put to one side when more delicious DPs came out.  My card is also for the Basic Grey Challenge to include fabric (lace).

DT Posting - Cooking It Up With Katie - String/twine, water, punches

Welcome to another recipe challenge with Cooking it up With Katie!  This week the challenge is to use water, punches and string/twine on your project.  This week we're sponsored by Simply Betty Stamps and I've used Miller, one of her fun digis for my card.  I've based my card on this week's Friday Sketchers Challenge,

Miller is coloured with copics, cut out and stuck onto a blue cardstock background with some torn paper added that has been Glimmer Misted to a sandy shade.  I've used a circle punch to cut a sun from the same paper.  I've used that Summer Daze DP again and I've added some waves with a HobbyArt stamp that are highlighted in white pen as well.  Oh, I faux stitched around the piece of navy card with more of the white pen, it just needed a little extra something:).

Hope you'll join us in Cooking up a challenge this week!

DT Posting - Cooking it up with Katie #23 - get fruity, paper piecing, circles

Good morning and welcome to another Cooking it up with Katie Challenge!  Today the recipe is:
  • get fruity
  • paper piecing
  • circles  so these are the elements you need to include in your project.
This week's challenge is sponsored by Robyn's Fetish and the DT was kindly given images to use; my image is called Daisy Days.  I've based my card on Sketch'n'Stash's latest sketch, with my new stash being the image and neglected stash is the Papermania DP that I bought a while back that has been sitting in my drawer.

Daisy's hat, dungarees, shirt and flower are all paper pieced in the citrus colours, lime ribbon around the Martha Stewart picket fence is from stash, as are the gems, and the sentiment is from Craftwork Cards.

The colourscheme fits Papertake Weekly's  theme of white and bright and Crafty Cardmakers' Challenge is to use punches (picket fence).  Finally, the ABC Challenge is back to A is for...  with August.  Daisy Days looks like a summery August gal to me (it's raining outside as I'm blogging this LOL) and I'm entering her for this challenge too.

DT Posting - Cooking it up with Katie - button me a blue bow!

This is the last of the forntnightly challenges from the Cooking it up with Katie Challenge - next week it becomes a weekly challenge blog so there's even more opportunity to  join in the fun!  This week the challenge is to use the following ingredients:
  • blue
  • button(s)
  • bow
This week's sponsor is Fairy Knoll and I have used their Annika image, she is coloured with Copics and some Stickles on her wings. The image comes with some lovely butterflies on which I have removed from my image, she looks great with or without them:).  Annika is sitting on a patchwork quilt, this DP is from a Joann Sheen CD.  The CD has some lovely things to print out, which are not really my cup of tea.  However this DP is just what I've been searching for, as a quilter, and I ended up getting the CD fr the one sheet of paper - mad or what!  I will try and use some of the other things, promise...:).

The lovely sentiment, "Wishing you the fairy best" is from Create with TLC, cut out with a Nestie.  The image background is pearlescent blue card, run through a Cuttlebug folder and the main background is a scrummy piece of Glimmer Misted card that I've been hoarding.  Organza ribbon and buttons are from stash.

I'm entering this very cute image for Papertake Weekly's Cutie Patootie Challenge and also for Allsort's Challenge of Summer Days.

1st DT Posting - Cooking it up with Katie

Good Morning!  My first DT posting for the Cooking it up With Katie Challenge is a bright and summery one, using an image from this week's sponsor, Meljen Designs.  Your challenge is to use the following three "ingredients" as you cook up your card:

 Use something yellow
Use a sketch from any current challenge
Add some stitching, real or faux

Ive coloured with Copics, Stickles and Glossy Accents, using two images to get lots of dimension, I popped up my leaf and flower with silicon glue.  The DP is Papermania, I used my Martha Stewart hydrangea punch down the side of the stripe.  I Cuttlebugged the cardstock, stitched round the image, the sentiment and the embossed card.  The sentiment is a freebie from TLCCreations.

Oh, the sketch that I worked with is from the Friday Sketchers Challenge.

DT News - Cooking it up with Katie DT

Bonjour!  We are on holiday in the beautiful Vendee area of France, we have internet access but I'm trying to stay offline as much as possible - not really a holiday if I spend my time in front of the screen:).

I have some exciting news to share:  I am very excited to have been picked as part of the DT for Cooking it up with Katie.  The challenges are great fun and a little different, with their set of "ingredients".  I hope you'll join me on Wednesday to see my first card for the Team
