This week at Less is More we have a really fun colour challenge for you: Jewel Tones. I've interpreted it fairly literally with my first card, with polished slices of agate. The Winnie & Walter stamp is a section through a tree trunk. I've coloured with Copics, matted and layered my strip with gold and black and I've used a Mama Elephant die and sentiment. The centre slice is heavily coated with Glossy Accents, it took nearly two days to dry!
I just can't keep away from those Crazy Birds! I've coloured this chap in shades of amethyst and gold, using Copics again, with a bit of Glossy Accents on the eyes. He's framed with a Simon Says stitched die cut and the sentiment, stamped in DI Dusty Concord, is from Stampin' Up's Age Awareness set. The frame is given dimension with some Pinflair glue.
Great cards Anne - thanks for reminded me to play with my birdies!

I did wonder where you got an agate stamp from - very inventive. I wonder if the technique I used with the versamark and clear embossing powder might have been better for drying time?
ReplyDeleteLove your birdie, I must be the only person not to have these stamps but they don't appeal to me, you have made a wonderful card with him and love your colouring.

Lovely cards Anne xx Jan
ReplyDeleteSuch clever use of the wood slice stamp, and your crazy bird is quite beautiful - I also like the treatment of carrying the color into the negative spaces of the lettering.
ReplyDeleteAwesome use of those jewel colours Anne and love those birds ... they keep popping up and really make me giggle! Have a great week. Sarah x
ReplyDeleteLoving the agate/wood stamp. Very clever idea and loving the colours. Also love how you've stamped the Birthday slightly off the card. Both cards are gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteLOVE those birds and the colours you chose are perfect! Great card!
ReplyDeleteSuper cards Anne, I really like those wood circles, I must look mine out!
ReplyDeleteYou've given me the nudge!!

Two really great cards, Anne! I think perhaps the bird is my favorite...but of course, I do love those crazy birds!
ReplyDeleteOnly a week late with my comment, apologies Anne! Two fabulous jewel colour cards. I love your first, so clever, and those colours are perfect. Well done for not sticking your fingers in the glossy accents, I always do! haha x
