Last Minute Christmas

This is from the last batch of cards for Christmas this year, a paper pieced JOFY stamp which is almost a one layer card :).  Colour added with Copics to the star the pot.  I thought there was almost too much white space and stitched a border around one tree, but really I prefer it without, what do you think?  I'm entering a favourite theme of mine, Trees, at Less is More, where you can pick any of the previous challenges; trees are Week 142.

I'm also entering...
Stampin with the Dragon - last minute Christmas
Copic Marker Europe - CAS
House that stamps built - last minute Christmas card or tag
Baffie's Creativeladen - last minute Christmas

PS Both trees are stamped onto the same paper, the colour difference in the photos is down to the bad light, one is with flash and one without, and neither looks that much like the real thing!

Ooh La La CD Challenge - Winter Wonderland

There's a super new challenge at Ooh La La, Winter Wonderland.  You don't have to use the CDs to enter the challenge, but we love it when you do.  My card uses a gorgeous wintry image from Carnival of Colour, which has stunning artwork from Beverly Morgan.  I really like the artwork tha Wendy tracks down for Ooh La La, it is a little different from the run of the mill images that can be found everywhere. The backing paper is also from the CD.  I've used lots of blingy silver mirri card to mat and to punch out some Spellbinders snowflakes, adding a few white ones as contrast.

I'm entering my card for the following challenges:
Simon Says - Bling it on
Brown Sugar - winter
Card Crafters Circle - home for the holidays
Sweet Stampin' Christmas - snow
Ladybug Crafts - Christmas/winter
Card Mania - winter wonderland

Swan Song for my Big Shot...

This is the last finished card that my much-loved Big Shot will ever make with me :(.  Having cut the dies for this card I tried to run a very intricate Cheery Lynn through with shims and the handle has sheared off, with the die and plates wedged inside.  I will have to dissect it to get my die out.  My Big Shot has been a great servant and doesn't owe me anything, I got it free when I was starting out crafting - at the NEC with two magazine subscriptions.  It weighed a ton as I lugged it back to the car park but it was worth it.

Expensive day today, a contact lens tore this morning and now I'm waiting for the third calamity...

Anyhow, my card is for Less Is More, where the challenge is metallic with one other colour.  Dies are Memory Box, sentiment is Kaisercraft.  The metallic is the silver card and also the beading wire that the baubles are hanging from.

Ooh La La Challenge - Happy Birthday

This week's card is a welcome diversion away from Christmas cards - Ooh La La's Challenge this week is Happy Birthday.  I have chosen an image from the Shawn Jenkins Collection CD, just love all the images on this one.  The pyramage Tulips image sets the colourscheme of pink and green, the 2 co-ordinating DPs also come from the CD and I've added a butterfly sentiment and some sheer ribbon.

I'm also entering my card for:
Simon Says - Heather's sketch
CD Sunday - F is for Flowers

White Christmas

There are a few white on white challenges around at present, so I'm blogging this diecut and embossed card which may look familiar if you are a regular reader of my blog!  The difference with this one is that I haven't added any sparkle or shine with Glamour Dust or Stickles, so you can see the detail better on the houses.  Sleigh is a Cheery Lynn die and the village is Memory Box.

My card is for:
Simply Create - snow or only white
Charisma Cards - Christmas
Sweet Stampin' Christmas - white on white
Sisterhood of Crafters - embossing
Try it on Tuesdays - white on white

Snow Geese

For once I have managed to combine my two favourite challenges, which usually call for very different styles:  Less is More and CD Sunday.  I think it works ok, what do you think?

Less is More want Christmas cards with birds and I've used these gorgeous geese from Inky Doodles' Warm Winter Wishes set.  CD Sunday's challenge is something beginning with F - Frost in this case.  Dotty paper is Anna-Marie designs and the heavily Stickled snow is torn white card.  So where is the CD element?  The snowflake shape of the card is from a cutting file that is on Creative Crafting World's Winter Walk in the Countryside, which I bought at the NEC last month.

I'm also entering my card for Tuesday Throwdown's Snowbird challenge

CDs can be square...

... well not really but here is my card for CD Sunday's Square Challenge.  I've not had a chance to play along with their challenges for a few weeks and was determined not to miss another one!  My card is from Cupcake Crafting's Magical Christmas moments.  I used CC Spray & Sparkle on the image, love the smell of this stuff :), doesn't really show up on the photo.  It's matted onto green and then gold and then I've added a Memory Box diecut and some tiny gems to the Christmas tree.

I'm also entering the following challenges:
Charisma Cardz - Christmas
ABC Christmas - winter wishes
Paper Shelter - Christmas is coming
Crafty Sentiments - Christmas

May all your dreams come true

This week's Less is More Challenge is to use Designer Paper in a CAS way.  I love 6x6 pads of paper, but I am using them less and less these  days. I had lots of ideas for this challenge but, as so often happens these days, life got in the way!  So here's my finished card, which uses an Authentique pad called Renew, which I think is the most recent paper I've bought.   This card would have been really quick if I'd had a butterfly punch of the right size, however mine is tiny so I cut these out on the Silhouette which was a bit more time consuming, but still beats cutting out by hand LOL! Sentiment is Stampin' Up.

Stitching, Real or Faux - Ooh La La Challenge

It was my turn to choose the them this week at the Ooh La La Challenge Blog, as you can see I opted for real stitching on both my background papers.  The stunning image is from the Shawn Jenkins Collection CD as are the background papers.  Leaves are cut with a JS die that I treated myself to at the NEC.

One layer Thank You

This week' is One Layer week at Less is More.  Having had a wonderful day at the NEC with Chrissie, Lady LIMette herself,  I decided to play with some new stamps I got yesterday and came up with this Thank You card.  As ever, I love my tree stamps and I found a brilliant new (to me) stamp company called Inky Doodles with some amazing stamps that create patterns.  Along with the patterns, I ended up with some solid topiary shapes which work really well for kiss stamping.

I used a WOW dotty stamp to kiss stamp onto the tree and added a Hero Arts sentiment.  The green inks are Olympia Green Versafine, with some Distress Ink in Evergreen Bough around the edges.  There was just too much white space (sorry LIM!) so I added a double embossed line along 2 sides.

I'm also entering the following challenges:
 CAS-ual Friday - embossing
Challenges and Candies - clean and simple
Simple Create Too - give thanks
Simon Says - clean and simple

Less is More - Trees

Less is More has my favourite ever theme this week - Trees - but life has got in the way of me making a card and this one is just scraping in at the last minute.  The stamp is made by Inkylicious; I have had problems with their stamps in the past but they persuaded me to give them another try at Ally Pally and replaced a stamp that had deteriorated.  The stamp has a choice of the couple I have used or a child on a swing which can hang from the branches.   Background uses Autumn/Halloween shades of Pan Pastels on a linen cardstock, I do like they way they highlight the texture.  The card is made from the same cardstock and I've used Pinflair glue to add the image with some dimension.  Oh, the sentiment is by Technique Tuesday.  Sorry for the poor photo, it was take it after dark or not at all now the nights are drawing in!

I'm also entering my card for:
Simon Says - Halloween/Halloween colours
Pan Pastel UK - autumn colours
Caboodle Doodles - Halloween colours
Lady Anne's - autumn

The C*****mas Word...

Yes, it is getting to be time to start on those Christmas cards - unless you are one of the smug people who has already made them!  This lovely image is from the Joanna Sheen Hollypond Hill Christmas CD.  I've matted and layered a few times, added some paper that came free with a magazine, some punch cut snowflakes and a big bow.

My card is for the following challenges:
Simon Says - Christmas
Craftroom Challenge - our feathered friends
Deep Ocean - Christmas is round the corner

Things with Wings - Ooh La La Challenge #141

Good Morning and welcome to a new Ooh La La Challenge.  This week our theme is Things With Wings and I suspect many of the DT will have picked images from the lush new Shawn Jenkins Collection CD, which has so many stunning images with butterflies on.  I've used a pyramage design called  Tulip, the DP also comes from the CD.  I've cut a strip from it and reversed the chevrons, what do you think?  There is also a punched border, a mini pyramage, some metal butterfly charms and a butterfly sentiment - quite a theme going on here - which also fits CD Sunday's Butterfly Challenge.

I'm also entering the following challenges:
Totally Gorjuss - wings and things
Card Crafters Circle - use three embellishments
Divas by Design - three or more layers

Clean & Simple Christmas

This week's Less Is More Challenge is to make a White on White Christmas card.  I chose to make even the sentiment white, so I used my Silhouette to cut out the Noel.  It is mounted with Pinflair glue on  Swiss Dot embossed background, the whole card is made from pearlescent white card.  A punched snowflake rests on the O and I resisted the temptation to add more!

I then used the negative to make another c&s card, but chose this time to add colour, this is simply glued onto red card with some gem stars added.  If I'd stuck it down dimensionally it could also have been WoW, but I like this version too.

I'm also entering my card for:
Keep it Simple - all is white
Crimbo Crackers - embossing
Simon Says - going dotty
Divas by Design - CAS

Going Dotty

You may need your sunglasses to look at this one lol!  It's from the new Ooh La La release of artwork by Shaun Jenkins and it is a perfect fit for Simon Says Challenge this week - Going Dotty.  Dotty DP is also from the CD, I've added a few random extra butterflies, all with Stickles added to give them a bit of bling.  Some ribbon and lacy ribbon, with the corners of the DP punched out with a MS punch.  The image is raised up with Pinflair glue.  Hope my card has brightened your day :).

I'm also entering my card for:

Here is my card for this week's Ooh La La Challenge Blog, which has the fun theme of "Something Beginning with F".  My Fs are Fruit and Fall and I have used a gorgeous pyramage design from the Carnival of Colour CD which is full of stunning artwork by Beverly Morgan.  This picture is called Quinces.   I have added matching backing paper and some bronzey ribbon, card candy and die cut leaves.  Chose not to add a sentiment until I know who and what it will be send to...

The 1950s - CD Sunday Challenge DT Guest

CD Sunday's Challenge this week is the 1950s and, after a very complicated week dealing with older son departing for university no less than THREE times, returning twice due to problems with his funding and accommodation, I have made a very uncomplicated card!

The image and the strip of DP are both from Joanna Sheen's Viva La Divas CD, which I love and really should use more often...  Matted onto mirri card and then white embossed with Swiss Dots, I've simply added some purple gems.

I'm entering my card for:
Crafting for all Seasons - make it funny
Crafters Companion - embossing
Simon Says - anything goes

Snow People - CD Sunday Design Team Guest

This week's theme over at CD Sunday Challenge is Snow People, perfect for a CD I have from Ooh La La called Christmas Presence, which has loads of different snowmen in the artwork.  I chose this adorable snowman as being something a little bit different, the yellowy-green colouring is definitely not traditional!  I added some ribbon and a big bow in organza, lots of gold mirri card including a Memory Box diecut and some gems.  Can you see the gems added to the diecut?

It has been a very busy week and I haven't had much time to visit blogs, hope to catch up a bit and see what you've all been up to this week :)

Ooh La La Challenge - Magnificent Men

This week's Ooh La La Challenge is Magnificent Men - time to make some cards for the men in your life, or even the men who were once in your life!  It is my soon-to-be ex's birthday soon and I still want to mark it by sending him a card.  I think I'm safe posting it on here early, can't imagine he'd be reading my blog these days!

The image is called Nice Catch and it comes from the Boys to Men CD, which uses the artwork of Doug Laird. The CD has a wonderful mix from beautiful landscapes and small boys playing, to more light-hearted cartoons.  The DP also comes from the CD and I've added some twill tape to the vertical stripe on it.  The sentiment is Hero Arts and the tree cut from a Memory Box die finishes off the card.  Despite the awkward circumstances, I really like the card.  Hmm, perhaps it's too nice to send LOL...

Little Boys - CD Sunday Guest DT Card

This has been a very busy week, I now have the first week of my new job under my belt and yesterday I took younger son to start at Plymouth University, which seemed to involve packing much electronic equipment but worryingly little in the way of clothes!

Luckily I had prepared my card ahead of time for this week's CD Sunday Challenge, which I am a Guest for September.  This charming decoupage is from Joanna Sheen's Faye Whitaker CD.  I've added a few mats and layers, including one using a MS Bubble punch.  DP is also from the CD, the sentiment is a Hobby Art stamp.

I'm also entering my card for:
Card Making Mamas - for the kids
Crafty Catz - men/boys
Jellypark Friends - all about the kids
Polkadoodles - one for the boys
Totally Papercrafts - birthday boys
An Inky Situation - teddy bears (under his arm!)

Oh Deer

I'm enjoying my first week in a new job, but still hope to make time for my crafting.  Today I have a card to show you from the Pollyanna Pickering DVD, British Wildlife.  I think Pollyanna's work is stunning and I hope we get lots more of her images to craft with.  This is a fairly simple, masculine card.  Both background papers are from the DVD, I've added a couple of trees cut with a Memory Box die, some grosgrain ribbon and a Craftwork Cards sentiment.

I'm entering my card for:
Simon Says - animal antics

Shop till you Drop - CD Sunday DT Guest

I had great fun making this card for CD Sunday's Challenge.   The theme is Shop Till You Drop and, having just popped across to the challenge blog there are some FAB cards to be inspired by!  I used an image from the Ooh La La CD All Dressed Up, called Accesories.  I printed the image twice onto glossy photographic paper and added lots of dimensional images and plenty of gems and bling.  Sentiment is computer generated, I've matted and layered onto silver mirri card.
I'm also entering my card for:

Back to Basic Grey

After a long break from it, I'm continuing in my quest to use my 6x6 pads one by one and today's card comes from the Out of Print pad, which now only has 2 or 3 sheets left.  I've paper pieced a Dylusions Couture stamp and matted it onto a dark spotty paper with the stripe background from the same pad..  The sentiment and the ribbon are both Stampin' Up and again the sentiment is mounted on a scrap from the pad.  I've used the sketch from Sketch'n'Stash as the basis for my card.
I'm entering my card for:
Sketch'n'Stash - sketch

Ooh La La Challenge - Pearls & Swirls

This week's Ooh La La Challenge is Pearls and Swirls, your chance to make a super feminine card.  I've kept mine fairly simple and understated, using the Tea Time image from the Yesterday's Memories CD.  The matching striped paper is also from the CD and I've added an embossed panel, some sepia ribbon, pearls and Memory Box swirls to my image.  Watch out for a super new release from Ooh La La, coming soon!

CD Sunday - Jem's Designs - Scentimental

I'm very excited to tell you that I have been asked to be a Guest on the Design Team for CD Sunday Challenge :).  This is a challenge I always try to join in with and I'm chuffed to bits to be a guest on their team for September.  This week we were generously given a Scentimental CD to work from by Jem's Designs, this week's sponsor and I've chosen a turquoise colourway called Toilet Water.  That gorgeous bottle is part of the DP and I've layered the vintage image with a faux postage image and decoupaged some flowers on.  Some sheer turquoise ribbon and a generous helping of Stickles completes my card.

Less is More - use a rubber stamp

After a couple of week's break, caused first by life and secondly by a strong and irrational aversion to washi tape, here is my card for this week's Less is More Challenge.  My collection of Acid Drops and What-Nots stamps is growing but I don't use them as much as I'd like :(.  So this week's card has AD&WN stamp, sentiment and border, coloured with Copics and framed with a narrow burgundy (or merlot, or shiraz) border.  I will try and get round to a watercolour entry, but this card was crying out to be made :).

Pretty in Pink

I've made a Happy Hoppers decoupage card for the Joanna Sheen Challenge, which is Pretty in Pink.  The Basic Grey DP is a perfect match, it looks like lots of yarn tangled up, which is what I expect you get when a rabbit tries to knit :).  I've added some raffia ribbon topped by a satin ribbon, some flowers and a Craftwork Cards sentiment.
My card is also for the following challenges:
Card Mania - ribbon
C is for - animals
Crazy Challenge - animals
2 Sisters - square cards
Crazy for - animals
Totally Gorjuss - bows

Hanging On!

Today's card is fairly unembellished, it's a masculine card using Joanna Sheen decoupage of the Gruffy Bears, love the expression on the bear that is hanging on for dear life!  I matted the image onto blue and then kraft and added a Stampin' Up sentiment.  The DP is very old Basic Grey, called Scarlett's Letter, there is a dry embossed strip across the card and some Card Candi.
I'm entering my card for the following challenges:
House Mouse & Friends Monday - transport
Glitter 'n' Sparkle - transport
Robyn's Fetish - rectangles only
Gem of a Challenge - anything beginning with B (bear, bike)
Crazy 4 Challenges - animals

On the Beach

This week's CD Sunday Challenge is On The Beach.  There are some gorgeous beach scenes in the Joanna Sheen Tom Mielko CD book and this is one of them.  The decoupage is matted onto a frame with a Bubble border punched out and has My Minds Eye DP behind it.  The sentiment is Hero Arts, stamped in sepia.  I'm also entering my card for the Daring Cardmaker's Challenge, Life's a Beach.

Owl always love yo-ou...

I recently treated myself to the offer on a Pollyanna Pickering DVD from a well-known shopping channel ;).  The artwork is absolutely stunning and I love the backing papers they added, stripes are always a favourite of mine and they have them in combis to match each image.  This simple card uses two of the backing papers with lots of silver mirri card added.  The sentiment tops two layered Memory Box die-cuts, I used a Martha Stewart punch border beneath the grosgrain ribbon.  I'm hoping that more of Pollyanna's work will be made available to craft with.
My card is entered for the following challenges:
Delicious Doodles - birds of a feather
Jellypark Friends - things that fly
Alphabet - N for newest (DVD in this case)
Crafty Ribbon - anything goes with ribbon
House that Stamps Built - things with wings
Penny's Papercrafty - dies and/or punches

Ooh La La Challenge - Inspired by a song

This week's Ooh La La Challenge is Inspired by a Song which immediately made me think of the gorgeous CD of designs called All Dressed Up.  I never have enough masculine cards so I made this monochrome card with the image Henri from the CD, inspired by Sharp Dressed Man by ZZ Top.  The check paper also comes from the CD, I added a few more frames to my image in Word before printing it out.  The matting and layering is offset and I've added some embossed card, ribbon and a sentiment from Acid Drops and Whatnots.

My card is also entered for:
Simon Says - monochromatic
Creatalicious - for the boys

Less is More Equals Numbers

This week's Less is More Challenge is to use numbers on a one-layer card.  This is the perfect opportunity for me to use a set that I bought from CAS-ual Fridays some time back - the WTF set.  I think it is really funny, but I think you do have to think carefully who you send this one to :).  I've used linen texture cardstock and Versafine ink, using the colours of Aldershot Football Club to suit the recipient.  Where I had repeated the long, thin borders there was a bit of a shadow on the 50, so I added some card candy on top of it to hide the error.  I made the artistic decision to add some card candy to the "50" border for interest - lol the first answer is the true one!

Fiddlesticks

Regular readers of my blog will know that I have a real weak spot for tree stamps and in fact own a small forest of them.  So you might think it a bit perverse of me to go with the colour stripes and not the trees for this week's Less is More Challenge.  The colours reminded me of a My Minds Eye 6x6 pad that I own called Fiddlesticks.  I also have rather a lot of 6x6 pads!

I really must get some hexagon dies, I wanted to use a lot of small scraps of the papers.  Instead I turned to my trusty bow die-cut and added a Waltzing Mouse sentiment stamped in London Fog grey. The card is a 5x7 tentfold.  I may still make a tree card, watch this space...  :)

Step Back in Time

I'm very proud to have been asked to join the Ooh La La Creations Design Team and here is my card for their new challenge, which is A Step Back in Time.  I have used a lovely old fashioned image from a CD called Watercolour Memories.  It isn't listed on the website, but there are just a few copies left.  Stocks are very limited and it is soon to be discontinued.  It has some gorgeous artwork on, mostly UK scenes but a few abroad too.

My card has a bit of an autumn feel to it, I've embossed the background with a basketweave pattern, matted and layered with burgundy card and diecut some Memory Box trees from the same card.  Some brown mesh ribbon and a few buttons threaded with raffia finish the card off.

I'm really looking forward to working with the Ooh La La CDs, expect to see a lot more of their artwork coming up on here soon :)

Garden Pleasures

I love the sound of this week's CD Sunday Challenge:  Garden Pleasures.  Now I didn't make my card on Sunday because I was planting up some pots and tubs with flowers, thinking over what CD to choose...
In the end I went with two.  The first uses a stunning wisteria topper from the Joanna Sheen Tom Mielko CD Workbook.  I've made an easel card using my Spellbinders Radiant Rectangles dies to frame the image.  I embossed an oval from the set onto the base card, masked it off and then used tapestry stamps to add more wisteria round the edge.  The sentiment (Stampin Up) looked a bit bare when I took the mask off so I added a few extra tendrils.  After all, wisteria never stays where it is supposed to!

Second card is a soft and pretty image from Jane Shasky's Heart of the Garden CD, very simple with a toning DP (Memory Box I think) and some twine added.

I'm also entering my cards for:
Crazy Challenge - summertime
Creative Stamp Friends - summer
City Crafter - summertime

Goody two shoes

Here's my card for this week's Less is More Challenge which has a photo of some amazing shoes for inspiration.  I used a Katy Sue Fabulous Shoes stamp that I bought at the NEC last year and hadn't yet inked up.  It's coloured with Copics and lots of Glossy accents.  The sentiment is Hero Arts and I stamped a long JOFY netting type stamp using Shabby Shutters Distress ink on the card background.  In real life it echoes the green colour on the image.
