Camouflage letters

I need to make a birthday card for Alex, who I haven't seen for some years. I can't remember exactly how old he is,but I've an awful feeling he's no longer a cute small boy. So... I found some fairly masculine coloured paper,cut letters with my new alphabet in the co-ordinating colours and stuck them down. All that effort and can I flipping read it? No! Back to the drawing board...
