Land of Hope & Glory?

I got these fun Inkylicious stamps at the NEC on my recent trip and have been looking forward to using them.  CASual Friday Challenge is to make a clean & simple project based on a song.  I thought this card was perfect to match with a patriotic song so here's my Land of Hope & Glory card:).
I inked up with Barn Door & Sapphire Distress Inks, adding a tiny bit of bling to the crown and some baker's twine.  Hope you like my Jubilee card:).

Simon Says - tag it

This is a very quick posting of a tag for the Simon Says Challenge.  I will most likely end up making it into a card but time has got the better of me:).  The stems are an Inkylicious stamp that I've been meaning to use for a while.  It's white embossed with Milled Lavender DI and Eggplant Adirondack ink brushed on, with a moon masked off.  I added some twine where the string went.  It's very simple and unadorned, I like it, what do you think?
My card is also for Lexi's Creations' monochrome challenge.

Just One Word

This week's Less is More Challenge is to use just one word.  Thank You cards are always useful at this time of year, however it's no good masking off the "you" on a sentiment when it needs the S adding.  I found this very chunky Elusive Images stamp and gave it quite a gentle inking so that it isn't too dominant.  Then I used the same ink and pearlised card with white embossed trees on it.  I added a dusting of silver and one piece of bling.  Sorry for the rubbish picture, will try again in daylight...

Tag, you're it!

More NEC stash, this time two stamps from Inkylicious, the cityscape and the Santa.  I will admit this needs a bit of work, the stamp is clear and not deeply etched, I've ended up with some lines across my scene while trying to get it to stamp cleanly...  Inked with Versafine Majestic Blue, second and third stampings behind one another.  Ink brushed onto the background and some Glamour Dust added for snow and around the moon.  This is a tag for One Layer Wednesday and I'm also tentatively entering it for CASual Fridays as the bow is an over-the-edge element.  But is it clean and simple with little or no white space?  Hmm I'm not sure:)

Less Is More sketch

We're home from delivering older son to University and, of course, I had to check out LIM and the 1,000 card challenge.  Well we didn't quite get there for the 1,00 entries on Less is More but it wasn't far off:).  This week there is a sketch to follow and my card is almost a CASE of Mandi's inked square.  I used an Inkylicious tree stamp and sentiment, with a Clarity maple leaf.  The backgrounds are Distress Inked (spiced marmalade, mustard seed, barn door) and I used Sepia Versafine for the stamping.  After several goes at stamping the sentiment perfectly level and not stamping it too hard (it's a clear stamp) I can only refer to the wording on it lol!  Incidentally the square is flat on the card, the shadow in the picture taken after dark makes it look like it stands out proud of the surface...
My card is for the following challenges:
Less is More - sketch
Stamptacular Sunday - just sayin'
Allsorts Challenge - keep it simple
CAS-ual Fridays - mostly monochromatic plus brown
Crafty Catz - autumn

Autumn Skies Part 2

Here's the second card I made this afternoon, again this was inspired by the Papertake Weekly Challenge of Autumn Skies.  The Memory Box DPs almost eclipse the stamping, aren't they beautiful?  The stamps, DPs, Distress Inking are all the same ones I used on the previous card, though the image and layout are different and this is not a sympathy card.  The silk ribbon has 3 small knots tied onto it.

The sketch is from Midnight Madness   and I'm also entering it into One Stitch at a Time's favourite colours challenge, I do love the autumn shades...

PS Don't forget to enter my candy:)

Autumn Skies - part 1

We have had a mad busy few days with different visitors on different nights, needing taking and collecting from different railway stations, culminating in me managing to lock myself out of the house when the plumber needed to sort out the leak from the work he did last week and the electrics for the whole house fusing multiple times thanks to a cold weather problem to the garage supply... !  Today I escaped into my craft room for a very welcome hour playing:).

I saw the theme for this week's Papertake Challenge, Autumn Skies and it inspired me to play with my new duster brushes and Distress Inks.  I am so pleased with these brushes, love the effect I'm getting.  This is the first card I made inspired by the theme.  I used Scattered Straw, Worn Lipstick and Spiced Marmalade and the stamps are from Inkylicious, the people I bought the duster brushes from.  The sketch is from Stamptacular Sunday, the DP is Memory Box and I've Cuttlebugged a piece of bronze card with leaves.  This is a sympathy card for a friend whose Dad died at the weekend.
I'm also entering the followng challenges:
Crafty Hos - fall colours
Charisma Cardz - sympathy/sorry
A Spoonful of Sugar  - distressing

PS Don't forget to enter my candy:)

Tree tag

I was really thrilled with some soft duster brushes that I bought from Inkylicious at the NEC, they give a soft effect that looks like very skilled brayering.  I have a brayer and can brayer reasonably, I have sponges, cut and dry foam, stippling brushes, but these give a different finish that I love.  I'm having a few problems with the stamps I bought with the brushes, they don't seem to want to cling to the blocks, but I managed to stamp this out as a card for a man, fairly unembellished.  The sentiment is Kaisercraft, from a set, stamps are all Inkylicious.
This card is for the following challenges:
No Time to Stamp - tags
Alphabet Challenge - B is for Bird
Dutch Dare - clean & simple
Papertake Weekly - cards for men (penny for the guy)
Crafty Emma - forever Autumn
Stamp, scrap and doodle - Fall
Digi Doodle Shop - Fall for me

Ali Factory - anything you'd find in the garden
