Spring Hyacinths

This card is very simple; I stamped the houndstooth from Waltzing Mouse onto textured cardstock and added a few ribbons where I'd left a gap in the repeat.  The image is Hyacinth & Ivy, a lovely serene Phindy's Place image.
My card is for:
2 Sisters - spring colours
Crazy4Challenges - spring is in the air
Simon Says - mother's day

SOS - Scrap Attack

This is a quick posting as I do want to get in an entry for Shopping Our Stash Challenge, it makes me feel a bit less guilty about all my stash:).  This week it's Scrap Attack or recycle.  I saw a gorgeous card by Julie, which I have partly CASED, with Julie's kind permission.  My scraps are those forlorn, cut into sheets from a Basic Grey 6x6 pad that I don't want to throw away because I love the DP but aren't good for much.  I stamped flags using Lindsay Mason stamps that I bought at the recent Craft Barn Extravaganza and then stamped them onto the tiny scraps, the sentiment is from the set too.  The paper pieced flags are highlighted with a blue marker and a white gel pen.  Although the papers are all from the same set, the scale is small and it is hard to see that they are related.  I prefers Julie's colour coordinated card and will try something similar another time.

My card is for:
Shopping Our Stash - scrap attack
Cupcake Crafts - single layer card
Kaboodledoodles - celebrations
2 Sisters - birthday - and Happy Blogaversary to them too!
Ellephantastic - birthday and another Happy Blogaversary!

PS Grrr...  DH thought they were pants.  I mean underpants rather than being rude about the card as such.  Definitely need to try another version...

This is another card that I made using the new release form Tiffany Doodles, this is called Petunias in a Jar.    The DP is Prima, I've used a wide Martha Stewart punch, ribbon from stash and a Craftwork Cards sentiment.  Image is colured with Copics, Distress Ink on the background and lots of Glossy Accents on the jar.

Here come the hummingbirds!

The long awaited new Fred, She Said designs have hit the store and they are just gorgeous!  There are cute hummingbirds and realistic hummingbirds, both are available as digis or pre-coloured.  I've several cards in progress to show you, here is a finished one.  I have chosen to colour my hummingbird with Copics and Distress Inks, however I find it really helpful to have the pre-colored images to look at to give me an idea of how to colour.  I've followed the sketch at Little Claire and used both sides of some My Mind's Eye cardstock.  The leaves were punched from a scrap of the cardstock, the sentiment is computer generated.

My card is for the following challenges:

Little Claire - sketch
Stamp something - digi
2 Sisters - distressing
Papertake Weekly - anything goes

Phindy's Place Challenge #48 - All About Animals

Welcome to a new Phindy's Place Challenge, this week the challenge is to use an animal image on your card or project. While you don't have to use a Phindy's Place image, why wouldn't you?  There are so many adorable and awesome iamges in the shop, why not check them out and acquire a new animal:).
I've used one of the Mrs Comyfy series of images, this is called Mrs Comfy and Pogg,I do love these images and find them such fun to colour up and use.

I've used a bit of a quilter's trick here because I've taken my colour palette from a multi-shaded piece of DP, from my Prima Madeline pad.  However in the end I've only used the tiniest scraps of the paper on the card.  But I knew that if the colours worked on the DP they would work together on the image.
I found the sentiment online and computer generated it.  Image is coloured with Copics, Glossy Accents and Stickles, I've added tiny pink pearls and blue gems to her coat buttons.  Ribbon, and buttons are from stash, background cardstock is embossed.

My card is for the following challenges:
Midnight Madness - sketch
AiFactory - under the weather
Southern Girls - add an animal
Creative Card Crew - no stamps (digi and computer generated used)
Spoonful of Sugar - ribbon, pearls/rhinestones and flowers
2 Sisters - furry friends

Hoppy Easter

Sweet Stop Sketches are celebrating their 100th sketch with extra prizes and a twist to the sketch of "How sweet".  I've recently discovered Tiffany Doodle's digis, many of which are very realistic drawings, as soon as I read of the twist I knew which image I wanted to use:  this is Shy Bunny.  I was unsure how such a realistic drawing would work with my Copics but all I can say is it is one of the easiest images I've ever coloured; all the work is done for you with the shading and I just reached for some earth colours and warm greys.
I cut round the image and used Pinflair to give it dimension against some stone coloured card that I dry embossed with a grassy pattern and sponged with Distress Ink.  The brown flowery DP is Prima Madeline, the background is an Artylicious paper from the Essences of Nature CD.  I used a MS punch on more of the stone card, made some flowers with a tiny sunflower punch and flower punch and computer generated the sentiment.
My card is for the following challenges:
Sweet Shop Sketches - sketch and twist
Paper Sundaes - embossing
CD Sunday - wild thing
Stamp Something - something sweet
2 Sisters - furry friends
Card Making Mamas - animals
Crafty Sentiments - animals
Sassy Studios - make your own embellishments

PS Tiffany Doodles also has a DT call out - if you're quick you can apply :)

Paws for the important things in life

Here's one of Phindy's adorable Wee Babbies, used with a matching sentiment from the Create with TLC set.  Each month Paulette and Phnidy have a collaboration and this one is irresistable as it has several sentiments that will be perfect to use with dog images.  This little fellow is called Resistance.  I used my new Prima DP pad again and matched his T-shirt stripe colours to those in the paper.  I also got some stripy twine from Quixotic Paperie that I used on the button and around of the the matted papers.  It arrived less than 24hrs after ordering, which I think is pretty impressive:).  I followed a sketch at ICS which is unusual, really like the effect it gives.
My card is for the following challenges:
Inspirational Card Sketches - sketch
Creative Inspirations Paint - inspired by animals
The Crafty Pad - buttons
2 Sisters - oh baby
Alphabet Challenge - stripes
Fairy Tales - children/babies
Creative Belli - animals and old stash (button)

Time for something different...

I've like the look of the paper pricking and seen the digis with templates at Fred She Said but not tried it out before.  This is my first go at it, I've used the Fall Flowers set and coloured in some pink asters.  The pricking was pretty but didn't show up as much as I would have wanted (need to use a bigger tool next time!) and I sponged the background with Distress Inks then spritzed it with water, which shows it off much better.  Then I tried another new technique:  I sponged over a stencil for a very clean and simple background to my card, which uses no DP.  I stamped a couple of swirls (Personal Impressions clear stamps) over the corners and added a few gems.  The card is an 8" pre-shaped card from Craftwork cards, bought and never used before.  Nice big blank to play with, think I'll be getting them out again soon...

I'm entering the following challenges with my card:
Stamp Something - digi
Aly's Sunday Challenge - distressed
2 Sisters Challenge - anything goes
ABC Challenge - f is for flowers

All through the city

A few weeks back I entered a favourite song challenge.  Having watched Oil City Confidential and rediscovered Dr Feelgood I had "All through the city" on the brain and made a watercolour card of a jetty.  Fast forward and I STILL have the same song on my mind, here is the same song, different viewpoint, for the Charisma Cards Challenge of favourite song.  "I've been searching all through the city, see you in the morning down by the jetty".  This is another card from the Sarah Anderson class I took at the Stamp Attic.  It's a Hero Arts stamp ( I need this stamp LOL!), image stamped onto card sprayed with Adirondack Inks, blended with a wet wipe.  Further images stamped onto paper coloured with the same wet wipe.  Sentiment is Wendy Vecchi.
My card is also for the following challenges:
2 Sisters Challenge - Monochromatic
Bunny Zoe - Distress It
Paperplay Challenges - In Stitches
